Bali beyond the holiday paradise: Education for disadvantaged children

__________

Bali – the name stands for dreamlike beaches, lush rice fields, and a fascinating culture. But behind the backdrop of this popular holiday paradise lies a bitter reality: poverty and lack of educational opportunities shape the lives of many people, especially in remote villages in the eastern part of the island.
Only recently were villages like Ban in eastern Bali discovered (about 25 years ago) – completely cut off from the outside world, without access to the most basic resources, including education. To give the children a chance, schools were established there – but they are struggling to survive.
The government provides only very limited support to the schools, so they are urgently dependent on help. Without financial support, they face closure – and with it the denial of a better future for an entire generation of children.

Our non-profit association supports three schools in this region – Pengalusan, Jatituhu, and Manikaji – making an important contribution to improving the educational opportunities for children. We focus on:

  • Expansion of school infrastructure: repairs, renovations, and provision of learning materials.
  • Teacher training: qualified teachers are essential for effective teaching.
  • Support for students: scholarships and additional learning opportunities for gifted children.

The schools are beacons of hope in a region marked by poverty and social disadvantage. With our help, we enable children to access education, open up new perspectives, and give them the chance to realize their full potential. Your support is crucial to continue this important work.
Together, we can give children in the remote villages of Bali a better future. Become part of our initiative and help us break the cycle of poverty!
